The run is I-75 south to Naples, east across Alligator Alley, then south through Broward into Miami-Dade. The Alley is tolled by axle and does not accept Toll-By-Plate, so a loaded truck is charged several times what a car pays. The open part of the drive is predictable to the minute. The Palmetto and Dolphin expressways at the end are not, and that is the part we plan the day around.
Brickell and Downtown
The strictest buildings in the state. Certificate of insurance, a booked dock slot and a fixed window, all cleared before the truck leaves Tampa.
Miami Beach and South Beach
Reached over causeways that carry truck restrictions, with resident-only parking on many streets. The approach is confirmed before we assign a vehicle.
